Who we are

Second Chance is a private recovery support app built for people working to overcome behavioral and substance addictions. We are based in Romania and operate under applicable European Union data protection law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What we collect and why

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a username. Your email is used only for authentication — to let you sign in and recover your account. It is never displayed publicly or shared with other users.

During onboarding you may optionally provide a nickname, date of birth, and personal context such as your reason for quitting and who you are doing this for. This information is stored to personalize your experience. It is never shown to other users.

Every day you use the app, you may submit a check-in that includes an urge level, an optional mood rating, and optional written reflection. This is stored in our database and used to generate your personal progress data. It is private and visible only to you.

If you write journal entries, those are stored in our database and are visible only to you. They are never shared, analyzed by third parties, or used for advertising.

If you log a relapse, that entry — including the addiction type, your urge level at the time, and any reflection you write — is stored privately and visible only to you.

If you post or reply in the community, that content is visible to other users within the app. Your username is shown alongside your posts. Your email, nickname, and all other personal details remain private.

If you apply to become a Supporter, the written application you submit is stored and reviewed manually by our team. It is not visible to other users unless your application is approved and a mentor profile is created.

If you submit a report about another user's content, that report is stored privately and reviewed only by our team.

What stays on your device

Conversations with the AI companion are never stored on our servers. After every session, a short summary is saved locally on your device using your phone's local storage. These summaries are used only to give the AI context in future conversations. They never leave your device.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles. We do not send your journal entries, check-ins, or AI conversations to any third party for any purpose other than what is described in this policy.

Third party services we use

We use Supabase to store your account data and app data securely. Supabase is GDPR-compliant and stores data on servers within the European Union or with appropriate safeguards in place.

We use OpenAI to power the AI companion feature. Only the text you type into the AI companion chat is sent to OpenAI to generate a response. Your name, email, and all other personal data are never sent to OpenAI. OpenAI's privacy policy is available at openai.com/privacy.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your App Store purchase information to verify your subscription status. Your payment details are handled entirely by Apple and are never seen or stored by us.

Your rights under GDPR

As a user based in or accessing the app from the European Union, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct any inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, and withdraw consent at any time.

To delete all your data, go to Profile → Settings → Delete All My Data inside the app. This will permanently remove everything we hold about you from our database. Local AI conversation summaries stored on your device can be cleared from the same screen.

To make any other data request, contact us at contact.solaceteam@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Children

Second Chance is not intended for anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will notify you within the app. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last updated.
